AOL Help
If
you are having problems sending cards check the following:
Address
Remember that e-mail addresses outside
an AOL
system
must have the full address -
yourname25@aol.com
and not just yourname25.
Graphics Compression
To
turn off Graphics Compression in the AOL Browser go to theAOL Toolbar,
click Members,
Click Preferences, Click WWW Icon (Picture of world globe),
and you will see
a dialog box. Click the "Web Graphics" tab, and a page
appears with the
question "Do you want Web Graphics to be compressed.
This will display
pages faster"; under the question is a box that you "check"
if you want compression,
otherwise leave it blank. If it is checked, uncheck it.

Purging
The Cache:
The
procedure for clearing your disk cache will depend on your Web
browser.
If your AOL software does not use Microsoft Internet Explorer or
Netscape click
Preferences under the Members menu at the top of the screen,
then click WWW,
then the Advanced button. Finally, click the Purge Cache button.
If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer
as your Web browser
1) Click "Tools"
from the top menu
2) Choose "Internet
Options." This will open a window
3) Click the "General"
tab if it is not already chosen.
4) Press the button
"Delete Files"
5) Reload the page
or click the link at the top

If
you are using Netscape as your Web browser
1) Click "Edit"
from the top menu
2) Then click "Preferences."
This will open a window
3) Double click
"Advanced" on the left menu, then click on "Cashe"
4) Press the 2
buttons, "Clear Memory Cashe" and "Clear Disk Cashe"
5) Reload the page
or click the link at the top
Browser
Upgrade
All
cards and graphics are best viewed with AOL 4.0 - if you have a lower
version you need
to upgrade - To check which version of AOL you are
running , click
" help " on the tool bar at the top, then click " about america
online "
if it says AMERICA ONLINE 3.0 FOR WINDOWS then you are
using the 16 bit
version (which can't display java with this browser). If it
says
AMERICA ONLINE
3.0 FOR WINDOWS 95 then you are using the 32 bit version
(which will support
java and the latest multimedia applications on the web)

You
can also use a third-party browser to surf the web - such as Netscape
Or Microsoft Internet
Explorer. There is a special version of Netscape
designed to be 100% compatible with America Online here
Keyword: Netscape.
Microsoft
Internet Explorer is now standard with the America Online software.
Settings
To Receive Cards:
If
notice of the card you sent did not get to the intended recipient
it is either due
to an error in the entering the recipient's email address
or the AOL recipient
users may not have enabled their email to
receive mail from
other than AOL users.

To
set your Mail Controls: Go to Keyword MAIL CONTROLS
Click
on the "Go to Mail Controls" button Select the screen name
whose
mail controls you wish to modify Click on the "Edit" button There are several
options -
Allow
all mail - all email to be received except the "Blocked Sites" list
in the Preferred Mail.
Block
all mail - all email will be blocked sent to this address. Allow only email
addressees
in the list to the right - the member can "Add or Remove" addresses
in
the list. Email will only be received from these addresses.
Block
email addresses in the list to the right - the member can "Add or Remove"
addresses
in the list. Email will be received from all addresses except those in
this list
and
the Preferred Mail "Blocked Sites" list. Select either the "Allow
only email
addresses
in the list to the right" or the "Block email addresses in the list
to
the right". Whichever one best fits the need.
Enter
the addresses which are applicable in the list.
Click
OK
